Frequently Asked Questions View all FAQs
How do you order the correct replacement parts?

Before ordering replacement parts, make sure you have the fan model and serial number.

Where can I find instructions to wire a motor on my fan?

The nameplate of the motor includes a wiring diagram. Wiring diagrams can also be found beneath the motor image in our Buy Parts section. Simply click the wiring diagram icon to view it.

Can I install a thermostat?

Yes, but only if the thermostat has a simple on/off operation. Please note: if the thermostat varies the amount of voltage delivered, it will damage the motor and void the warranty.

Can I install my whole house fan vertically?

Comfort Cooler (CC) series whole-house fans may be mounted vertically, however, the AS and CSS shutters will not function properly in the vertical position. We do not carry a ceiling shutter for vertical installation. Vertical installation instructions.

TP Bug Blaster — 48″ direct-drive severe-duty industrial fan

Triangle Engineering’s TP Bug Blaster is a 48″ direct-drive industrial fan engineered for severe-duty environments. Built with an all-welded, heavy-gauge steel housing and flared orifice, non-overloading cast-aluminum airfoil blades, a durable polyester powder-coat finish, and OSHA-compliant guards standard, it combines rugged construction with long-term reliability. The direct-drive design eliminates belts and pulleys, reducing maintenance while ensuring smooth, dependable operation; integrated forklift pockets and a lifting eye simplify staging and relocation.

Available in a 48″ diameter with 3–5 HP TE 3-phase motors (Hazardous Location 3-phase option available), TP Bug Blaster models deliver 32,700–36,200 CFM (open air) at 880 or 1170 RPM. This high-velocity discharge provides precision air movement for heat relief and fume dilution in large, demanding spaces. Alternate voltages, controls packages, and application-specific motor selections can be configured to match site power and safety requirements.

Engineered for versatility in severe-duty industrial ventilation, TP Bug Blaster excels on oil & gas drilling rigs (rig floors, shaker rooms), in steel mills (melt shops, rolling lines), across mining and aggregates operations (crushers, conveyors), and in heavy manufacturing and fabrication bays. Wherever heat, fumes, or stagnant air threaten productivity, this direct-drive industrial fan provides a proven, reliable solution.

  • Direct-drive performance — TP-series direct drive design reduces maintenance and keeps output consistent in demanding duty cycles.

  • Massive airflow — moves up to 36,200 CFM (48″, 5 HP @ 880 RPM) to clear heat, insects, and fumes quickly in open, high-load environments.

  • Extreme-duty construction — all-welded steel with a flared orifice for efficient, high-velocity discharge under tough conditions.

  • Industrial handling built in — integrated forklift pockets and lifting eye speed staging, placement, and relocation on busy job sites.

  • High-efficiency propeller — cast-aluminum, non-overloading airfoil blades deliver smooth, powerful, spark-resistant airflow.

  • Durable finish — polyester powder coat resists corrosion and wear for long service life in harsh industrial environments.

  • OSHA guard standard on every unit — shipped with OSHA-compliant guarding across all TP Bug Blaster models for safer operation in industrial settings.
  • Motor readiness for industry — TE 3-phase standard with a Hazardous Location 3-phase model available for specialized applications.

  • Built for the toughest sites — engineered for extreme duty on oil rigs, steel mills, and heavy industrial facilities.

Sizes & models (48″)

We recognize that not every job can use a stock model. When your application calls for something beyond the catalog, we tailor the TP Bug Blaster—motors, voltages, mounting, controls, and finishes—to your environment to meet performance, safety, and compliance targets. Beyond standard specs and finishes, our engineers partner with you to deliver fans that excel in performance, reliability, and longevity, even in the most demanding industrial conditions.

Examples of our custom services

Non-standard diameters (project-based)
While the TP Bug Blaster is a 48″ direct-drive platform, we can evaluate adjacent builds (e.g., within the TP family) or project-specific diameters when your application requires it.

Motor and drive configurations (direct drive only)
Choose from application-specific motor packages and horsepower selections (e.g., 3–15 HP options, inverter-/VFD-ready, high-ambient, hazardous location). Where available, we can source specialty motors (chemical duty, arctic duty, etc.) to match your environment and controls strategy.

Electrical and voltage options
Alternative voltages and frequencies can be reviewed (e.g., 50/60 Hz, regional voltages). We’ll help align motor selection with your available power, starters, or VFDs.

Controls and wiring packages
Factory-mounted disconnects, cordsets, junction boxes, and VFD or starter panel pairings can be configured to simplify installation and commissioning.

Mounting and integration
We can design custom mounting plates, brackets, or interface patterns to match existing structures, stands, or enclosure frames—reducing field fabrication and install time.

Special bolt patterns and anchoring
If you’re tying into existing bolt circles or base hole patterns, we’ll align mounting geometry to your site conditions for a clean, drop-in fit.

Finish and environmental protection
Beyond our standard polyester powder coat colors, we can evaluate specialty colors or material selections (aluminum/stainless steel) based on corrosion exposure, washdown routines, or cleanliness requirements.

Hazardous location builds
Hazardous-location (HL) motor packages are available on request. These builds are engineered and made to order; overall hazardous-atmosphere suitability depends on the complete installation and must meet local, state, and national codes.

Whether you need minor tweaks to our standard design or a purpose-engineered solution, our team will collaborate on the details, airflow, throw distance, controls, mounting, and safety, to meet your exact performance and compliance targets.
