Frequently Asked Questions View all FAQs
How do you order the correct replacement parts?

Before ordering replacement parts, make sure you have the fan model and serial number.

Where can I find instructions to wire a motor on my fan?

The nameplate of the motor includes a wiring diagram. Wiring diagrams can also be found beneath the motor image in our Buy Parts section. Simply click the wiring diagram icon to view it.

Can I install a thermostat?

Yes, but only if the thermostat has a simple on/off operation. Please note: if the thermostat varies the amount of voltage delivered, it will damage the motor and void the warranty.

Can I install my whole house fan vertically?

Comfort Cooler (CC) series whole-house fans may be mounted vertically, however, the AS and CSS shutters will not function properly in the vertical position. We do not carry a ceiling shutter for vertical installation. Vertical installation instructions.

HHC Series Belt-Drive Hooded Roof Exhaust Fans

SINCE 1948.

HHC Series Belt-Drive Hooded Roof Exhaust Fans

The HHC Series belt-drive hooded roof exhaust fan is Triangle Engineering’s go-to solution for high-volume rooftop ventilation. A deep, all-welded steel hood shields the drive train, while a cast-aluminum air-foil propeller quietly moves up to 86,000 CFM. Standard units exhaust hot, stratified air from warehouses, foundries, or process plants, but factory-built supply or true reversible versions are available for make-up/intake or bidirectional flow. Seven blade diameters—24 in. to 72 in.—and ½ HP to 25 HP motors let engineers hit precise airflow and static-pressure targets.

Air handling quality pillow-block bearings, taper-lock cast-iron sheaves, and an adjustable motor mount keep service predictable; optional access doors, extended grease lines, and pre-wired disconnects make routine service fast and safe.

Each HHC is fabricated and run-tested in Arkansas, finished in a durable polyester powder coat, and ships curb-mount ready. Standard motors are Totally Enclosed or Hazardous-Location; chemical-duty, arctic-duty, 50 Hz, ECM, and high-ambient packages are available, along with stainless or aluminum construction for harsh environments.

From weld-fume exhaust to crypto-mining make-up air, the HHC Series delivers adjustable performance and long-life durability—backed by 70 years of Triangle Engineering ventilation expertise.

  • All-welded steel construction
All welded hood assembly and air shaft combined with a fully welded fan frame—fabricated from heavy-gauge steel—shrug off vibration and roof movement for trouble-free service.
  • Belt-drive flexibility
Slower blade speeds cut noise and wear, while interchangeable sheaves (or a VFD-ready motor) let you fine-tune CFM and static pressure without swapping the fan or motor.
  • High-efficiency air-foil propellers
Precision-balanced cast-aluminum blades deliver high volumes of air with minimal turbulence, preventing motor overload and keeping sound levels low.
  • Heavy-duty drivetrain & bearings
Self-aligning air handling quality pillow-block ball bearings, taper-lock cast-iron sheaves, and oversized V-belts are sized for continuous industrial duty and long service intervals.
  • Ships fully assembled & tested
Every fan leaves our factory fully assembled and rigorously tested, speeding up on-site setup so you can get up and running quickly.
  • Multiple motor options
Choose standard Totally Enclosed (TE) or Hazardous Location (HL) motors, or upgrade to chemical-duty, 50 Hz, arctic-duty, high-ambient, IEEE 841, or ECM packages to match any environment or energy goal.
  • Rugged weather protection
Heavy gauge steel with a polyester powder-coat finish keeps the fan performing in all climates.
  • Service-friendly design options
Optional disconnect switch, access doors, and extended lubrication lines make routine inspections quick and safe—no hood removal required.
  • Proven heritage
Backed by 70+ years of Triangle Engineering expertise, the HHC Series Belt-Drive Hooded Roof fans have thousands of installations that have outlasted roof systems and production lines alike.

Fine-tune your HHC belt-drive hooded roof exhaust fan for site-specific codes, climates, and maintenance protocols with these factory-engineered upgrades:

  • Disconnect switches – A pre-wired, UL-listed NEMA 3R or 4X safety switch mounts on the curb base, giving you a lock-out/tag-out point within sight and sound of the motor for NEC-compliant service.
  • Louvers / backdraft dampers – Gravity- or motor-operated assemblies that close when the fan is off, blocking rain, wind-driven snow, and negative-pressure backflow. Essential for conditioned or pressurized buildings.
  • Adjustable drives – Alternate sheave sets (or open-face variable-pitch sheaves) let you dial in RPM to meet precise CFM/ SP targets or compensate for future process changes—without replacing the motor.
  • Access doors – Gasketed panels built into the hood provide easy entry to belts, bearings, and propeller for inspection and cleaning, reducing downtime.
  • Filters – Washable aluminum-mesh fitted in the hood for supply-air units—capture lint, leaves and dirt before it reaches the workspace.
  • Bird screens – Welded, galvanized wire mesh installed at the hood outlet or intake keeps birds and large debris out of the airstream while preserving airflow.
  • Extended lubrication lines – Remote grease lines routed from pillow-block bearings to an exterior port, allowing safe, roof-level relubrication without removing the hood.
  • Special Coatings – Epoxy or marine-grade powder coats add extra corrosion resistance for coastal, chemical, or food-processing roofs; color-match options support corporate branding.

Need something not listed? Triangle’s engineering team can integrate custom accessories into your HHC fan at the factory—keeping your project on spec and on schedule.

HHC belt-drive hooded roof fans keep large industrial spaces cool, compliant, and productive by quietly moving huge air volumes while shielding the drive train from weather. From heat-laden production halls to high-density server farms, the HHC’s rugged construction and belt-drive flexibility make it a go-to solution wherever reliable rooftop airflow is mission-critical.

  • Manufacturing Plants: Exhaust hot process air, welding fumes, and airborne particulates to maintain safe working conditions.

  • Warehousing & Distribution Centers: Exchange stale air in cavernous buildings, helping regulate temperature stratification and occupant comfort.

  • Foundries & Metalworking Shops: Vent smoke, molten-metal heat, and dust generated by casting, forging, or grinding operations.

  • Chemical Processing Facilities: Remove corrosive vapors and maintain negative pressure to protect personnel and sensitive equipment.

  • Beverage & Food Processing Plants: Control humidity, odors, and wash-down moisture while meeting stringent sanitation requirements.

  • Crypto-Mining Farms: Expel the immense waste heat produced by densely packed ASIC rigs or GPU clusters, safeguarding uptime.

  • Power & Utility Rooms: Provide steady rooftop exhaust or make-up air to cool switchgear, transformers, and backup generators.

  • Pulp & Paper Mills: Mitigate steam, chemical fumes, and high ambient temperatures common in pulp digesters and paper machines.

  • Quiet, low-vibration operation
Slower RPMs and precision-balanced air-foil blades cut sound at its source, helping you meet plant noise limits while extending bearing life.
  • Maintenance made easy
Factory options such as hinged access doors, extended grease lines, pre-wired disconnects, variable-pitch sheaves, and custom coatings let us tailor each HHC to your airflow, environment, and maintenance program—so the fan meets your exact needs while routine service stays fast and safe.
